People searching for a plumber in Lakeland, Auburndale, Bartow, or Winter Haven usually want one number. We do not publish a single hourly rate, because the job is priced after we see the problem. You get the full price in writing before work starts. That is the rule on every True Plumbers & AC visit.
What we can tell you is the ranges already on this site, plus what waiting usually costs in Florida when a small leak or a slow drain sits.
The numbers we already publish
Water heater repair. Most repairs we list fall between $150 and $500, depending on the part and the unit. Tank and tankless both count. If the heater is about eight to twelve years old and the repair is more than half the cost of a new unit, we will say replacement is the better spend. That $150 to $500 band is already on our water heater repair page.
True Home Membership. $24.99 a month. Annual plumbing and HVAC inspections, no dispatch fees, 5 percent off repairs, and priority scheduling. That is the published membership price, not a sale we invented for this post. Details are on the membership page.
Financing. Projects up to $65,000 on approved credit, terms from 3 to 120 months. Checking options does not hit your credit score. Details live on the financing page.
Drain cleaning, emergency calls, repipes, and AC installs. We do not publish a one-line dollar amount for those. A hair clog in a bath trap is not the same as hydro jetting a main with roots, and a same-day emergency is not the same as a scheduled faucet. We diagnose first, then you approve the number.
A number you saw on another site is not our quote.
What you pay for on a typical visit
- You call (863) 667-6364 or book online and describe the problem.
- A dispatcher gives an arrival window. We run four offices: Lakeland (3705 Frontage Rd N), Plant City HQ, Auburndale (1627 US-92), and Bartow (250 Old Bartow Eagle Lake Rd).
- The technician finds the cause at the house.
- You get the price before any repair starts. Nothing begins until you say yes.
True Home members skip the dispatch fee. Everyone else still sees the number up front. The price does not change mid-job unless you approve extra work.
Tell the dispatcher the city, which fixture, whether sewage or clean water is showing, and whether you already poured cleaner. That last one changes how the technician works the line.
What waiting usually costs
A service call that clears a slow drain or stops a leak is the cheap version of this story. Florida restoration companies in 2026 put a contained sewage cleanup around $2,000 to $10,000. Multi-room black-water jobs, subfloor pull, and HVAC decontamination run $15,000 and up in those same write-ups. Category 3 water (sewage) is often priced $7 to $14 a square foot because it is treated as a biohazard, not a mop job.
Mold can start in 24 to 48 hours in Florida humidity. Standard homeowners policies often exclude sewer backup unless you added an endorsement. We are not your insurance agent. Read your declarations page before you need it.
South Florida slab-on-grade repair write-ups put a collapsed or heavily rooted line under concrete in the $8,000 to $18,000 range, sometimes more. Polk County housing is the same construction: slab, older laterals, oaks. We will not invent a True sewer-replacement price. The point is the gap. Clearing the line or stopping the leak early is the cheap side of that gap.
A leaking tank heater that sits on a garage slab can wreck the unit and the floor. A pinhole that you keep patching is how a $150 to $500 heater repair turns into a repiping conversation. Catching the first leak is cheaper than the fifth.
If sewage is coming up, that is emergency plumbing. Stop running water and call.
Lakeland and the rest of Polk
Lakeland is the first market we name. Plumbers in Lakeland covers the lakes, Kathleen, Highland City, and the hard-water issues that show up on heaters and fixtures. Hard Polk water scales elements and faucet cartridges. Older slabs hide galvanized and polybutylene. Those two facts are why two houses on the same street can get two different quotes for “the same” call.
If you are in Winter Haven, Auburndale, or Bartow, the same pricing rule applies. The truck may leave a different office. The quote still happens at your door.
How to get a number today
Call (863) 667-6364. Say the city (Lakeland first if that is you) and the fixture. We will tell you whether we can come same day and we will quote on site. Licensed CFC1428965 (plumbing) and CAC1820605 (AC).
For a drain that will not clear, start on professional drain cleaning. For a heater that is already leaking at the base, start on water heater repair.
